Last updated: July 11, 2026

Explanation

Meaning comes from context

In can mark space, a future interval, or a state/field. An marks contact/location, time, or a fixed relation. Auf can denote a surface/goal, duration, or a verb-bound relation.

Über marks higher position/path, exceeding a quantity, or a topic. Unter marks lower position, membership/distribution, or a condition. Vor marks location, earlier time, cause, or protection. Learn fixed combinations as units and classify each use by its function.
