Explanation
Four paired connectors
Paired connectors have two parts and link parallel elements: two nouns, adjectives, phrases, or clauses.

Keep the structure parallel
Use the same grammatical form after both parts: sowohl im Büro als auch zu Hause, weder teuer noch kompliziert, entweder heute kommen oder morgen anrufen.
Short parallel elements normally have no comma between them. When complete main clauses are joined, a comma is required before sondern. Keep the finite verb in its normal position and remember that auch belongs to the second half of nicht nur … sondern auch.

With je … desto/umso, the verb is final in the je-clause and occupies position 2 in the desto/umso main clause. With nicht nur … sondern auch, the second subject and verb stand between sondern and auch. Agreement with coordinated subjects follows number and proximity.
